Quick question - How do you define marketing?

For me, marketing is essentially 2 things -

  1. Finding your ideal customers online
  2. Explaining to them how your product solves their problems.

Yesterday we spoke a little about the importance of knowing your ideal customer.

Today let’s go deep into customer research.

The most important and very first piece of data you need is where does your customer hang out on the internet?

The internet has 5 billion daily users.

If you want to run an online business, your customers must be part of this group.

But thankfully, you don’t need to sift through 5 Billion people to find your customers. You can go into smaller chunks of people based on their interests and hobbies.

There are places on the internet where your potential customers hang out every day. I like to call them “The Watering Holes” of the internet. (More on this analogy here)

Essentially these are interest based online communities.

Communities come in many shapes and sizes.
