So yesterday we discussed 2 community focused marketing ideas. There’s one more idea that we will go into today.

It’s influencer marketing, but in a scrappy way.

Scrappy Influencer Marketing

So traditional influencer marketing is where you pay an influencer to promote your product to their audience.

But if you don’t want to spend a ton of money doing this, then you can always collaborate with an influencer.

You can give them a free version of your product to try out, or give them extra perks and bonuses. All in exchange for a shout out in front of their audience.

And these influencers don’t need to have huge followings.

You’re best bet is approaching early or mid stage Bloggers, YouTubers, Podcasters, Newsletter writers etc.

Creators who are not widely known, but within in a community they are respected and have a decent presence.

There’s a good chance, that they early in their journey and wouldn’t mind giving you a shoutout in exchange for getting some specific problem solved for them.

A good example of this is Copy AI - the AI writing startup.

At launch their founder - Paul Yacoubian gave away free codes to hundreds of Twitter influencers in the marketing community.

These people tried out the product and started talking about it with their audience. This gave a tremendous initial boost to Copy AI.

The actual collaboration you will have may look different.

But the general idea remains -

You’re not spending money, but your time and effort here.
